Another V-Day gone by...

Valentine's day, the day when everyone in love go a bit berserk in professing their unfaithful love to their valentine... Another V-Day passed by yesterday... For those in love, it was yet another memorable day with all the flowers, gifts, mails etc etc... And for those who are still single, it was just another day wondering what all the fuss was about... And, of course, reading valentine day forwards... Is it worth the time and the money and the effort for just that one day??? Or can it be considered as a good investment for the entire year till the next one comes around??? :-)...
As for me, i did get two nice bouquets of roses (yellow, to be specific) from my friends here... Which made this valentine's day a nice one for me... Anyways, 365 more days till the next one comes around... More yellow bouquets then, or maybe a red one somewhere on the horizon... Will have to wait and see... :-)...

Back in m'lore

Its been a long time since i posted anythin on my blog. It seemed like my new year resolution of bloggin was gonna fail quite quickly like most new year resolutions do. But with this post, i hopefully will be back to bloggin full time...
Life has been hectic the last month with the training exams and projects... But now back in mangalore and on a project right away... the funny thing is that those working on projects always want to be on bench and those on bench always want to be working on a project... so the project-bench cycle will always be a zero-sum game with people in one group wanting to be in the others shoes... but thats the problem... the grass always seems greener on the other side... only that, once you are on the other side, you realise there is no grass at all...
Anyways, the best part about being back in m'lore is the weekends... the movies and the evenings at the beach... watched 'Rang De Basanti' and 'Chronicles of Narnia'... RDB is a great movie and it had quite a strong impact on me... The analogy drawn in the film between the current sms generation and revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekar Azad, etc is brilliant... and glad that A R Rehman is back to his best... The music is seriously good... Its a real must-watch film. Narnia, on the other hand, is a mix of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Enjoyable, but nothin great...
India lost another match today... and sadly most of the people here seem to be blaming Tendulkar for it for getting out at the wrong time... even after the little master scored a wonderful hundred... just dont know what he has to do to please all... but thats the way things go in india... people just love to hate the heroes... and also try their best to pull them down... i suppose its all in the mindset of the people... and thats the real sad part...

Life in training

The last few days have been quite hectic... First, they prepone our compre (thats the term used for our final training exam in infy) by 3 weeks... Then we have projects to be completed in pretty much a day along with taking a test for the just completed module...
Thankfully, done with all that today... But the compre is still looming over our heads... The worst part is that our performance in that affects a component in our pay package... So in the end, you cant screw up the compre... Coz as the famous qoute goes, "Its all about the money, honey!!!"...

Me and my mentor

Life in training can get very boring at times, that too when they teach the same stuff that you have repeatedly learnt in college. The last few days have been such...
But one real good thing that happened in these last few days was that i got to meet Mr. N.R. Narayana Murthy, the Chairman and Mentor of Infosys. Now, i know thats no big deal for most people, but i always have had immense respect for him for what he has done here at Infosys and also his contributions to the Indian IT sector in general. And the friendly manner in which he speaks to you can almost surprise you. Getting to meet him (by chance) and wishing him for New Years was probably the best start to 2006 that i could have had....

A quiet transition to 2006

I would have loved to be in some party in bangalore or mangalore celebrating New Years... But as fate had it, i had to be content with celebrating it in the Infosys campus in Mysore... We had a new multiplex that got inaugurated in the campus yesterday... So, went to watch the 9.30 show of 'Shikhar'... The less said about the movie, the better... But i have to say somethin about the multiplex though... A few stats of the new multiplex for those who like stats... 3 theatres, one with a capacity of around 1200 and the other two with a capacity of around 500... Those who feel that "Size doesn't matter" have to check out this building... In Infy, size does matter...
Anyways, back to the New Year transition... The movie got over at 12(atlast)... Wished some friends... And then decided to cycle around the campus... Alone... At around 1 in the night... I am not a great thinker, but i did do some hard thinking last night...
At the beginning of 2005, i always thought that i would remember the year for turning 21, for getting a good job and a new found independence in life... But the more i thought about it, i realised that i would remember it most for all the good friends that i made after joining work and for some of my friends from college whom i have been in touch with even though we are far away from each other... And for some reason, i really missed all of them on New Years...
I was watching a program on Sachin Tendulkar yesterday, and Vinod Kambli had this to say, "I am not proud of him because of all the runs that he has scored or for all the records that he has broken, but i am proud of him because he is my friend"...
Thats a thought to remember and to be carried forward to 2006 for me... And i can only hope, that 2006 will be like 2005... A fun filled year, with a few friends going away and a few new friends being made.........
